"A line is a dot that went for a walk."
Paul Klee is a Swiss and German painter whose highly individual style is
best known by an often childlike perspective and spidery
hieroglyph-like symbols. Klee was heavily influenced by the
expressionist, cubist and surrealist movements. Klee taught at the Bauhaus for ten years, where he became close with Wassily Kandinsky
built a legacy teaching color mixing and theory.

"A line is a dot that went for a walk." XD That's hilarious! I really like all the art on the video. 2:57 That's my bubble gum!!!!!
ReplyDelete"A line is a dot that went for a walk." means to me that something can start off small but at the end of the day its so much more. This also means to me pay attention to everything around you because they might not be what they say they are.
ReplyDeletePaul Klee has a weird theme to his art and i kinda like it but at the same time i think of it was the weirdest i have ever seen.

Never thought of it that way "A line is a dot that went for a walk." That's clever and I agree with that. I really like his work but not something i will be interested in buying. His work is very interesting he uses a lot of the same colors for his work.
ReplyDeleteThese paintings are child-like. Some of the lines Klee made are very thick, and do pop out, especially with the color mixing that you see. The quote "A line is a dot that went for a walk." I believe that he is trying to say that, you start of with a dot and simply make a line, and create something very unique with it.
ReplyDeleteI never thought of that before until now about a line being a dot that goes for a walk. His art work is very interesting i've seen common work like his but I can not remember their names. But Paul Klee has some very nice art work though.
ReplyDeleteI like his drawings they remind me of a little kids drawings but it's cool to see that though but I didn't understand the quote that much
ReplyDeletePaul Klee's drawings, and paintings are neat. The way he uses the colors for each picture are very well detailed. Also when Paul uses the quote of "A line is a dot that went for a walk" I think what he means by that is it maybe a line, but it's another form of art.
ReplyDeleteI'm not a big fan of simplicity but i can see why he was and is a respected artist, his originality is an important key to his popularity, if as if his symbols might have signified his own language.
ReplyDelete"A is a dot that went on a walk" means to me that "something that starts small can go a long ways to make something beautiful".
ReplyDeleteA line is a dot that went on a walk is a very whimsical way of teaching the simplicity of art. Klee has a very simple style and while I'm not a fan of his work, I can respect him.
ReplyDeleteA line that went for a walk? More like a snail that went for a drag...

ReplyDeletea line is a dot that went for a walk. this to me means that no matter how small the action, it slowly has the power to make something beautiful or awful. every action will soon intertwine to become your life. the question that we all must face is... what do you want to draw?
ReplyDeleteI LIKE IT!!! "A line is a dot that went for a walk." A fun comment that made me laugh. The idea is so childish that it seems ridiculous. But I suppose that's the point, isn't it?
ReplyDeleteSo what does this quote mean to you?
DeletePlease think about it and post a comment for a grade.
Exactly that, the quote represents a childish, simplistic view of the world. Man tends to over-complicate things as he gets older, thus making it hard to see the beauty in something simple. An artist has to keep that seemingly-over-simplified view of the world around them to find a quick inspiration. Even I have a hard time with that.
DeleteA line can consist many many dots, i.e a perferated line. But all in all if you look at it a line is only a dot that took a walk for the simple fact that it takes you a simple movement to put your pencil on the paper, or what ever you are using, once it touches the paper is creates a dot and when you drag it out to create your creation. I'm also enjoying Sanderson's enthusiamsim on a dot just taking a walk to create a line!^ :p
ReplyDeletea shape is a dot thad went throug time and space at light speed
ReplyDeletePaul's artwork is simple but at the same time complex.I like some of his piece's.Although there kind of random.

haha, i find what he cute. I think what he means is that just a simple thing can take us to higher and better places.
ReplyDeleteThat saying is kind of funny because I've never heard or thought of it before. I like his work even though to me it doesn't have organization to it.

Most of his works are abstract, yet beautiful in some way.
ReplyDelete"A line is a dot that went for a walk." might be one of my all time favorite quotes because it's humorous and it makes you think.
I believe the quote is trying to say that we start off as a dot, and we have to move on one dot at a time until we form a line. And that line is all the things we have accomplished in life. I see the quote as some kind of motivation for aspiring artists.
Paul Klee's paintings were cool because he used a lot of color. His themes were very interesting.
ReplyDeleteThis quote makes me feel like I should go for a walk because I feel like a dot. Ohh... I'm a poet and I didn't even know it!
ReplyDeletehahaha. Cute.
